Medium: Direct-to-plate polymer photogravure
Subject Matter: A quiet encounter among the coastal grasses of the Vero Beach wetlands, brought to life through intaglio printmaking. This watchful marsh rabbit paused just long enough in the dense cover to capture a moment of stillness and keen awareness of newcomers to the marsh.
Translating the field photograph into a Direct-to-Plate (DTP) polymer photogravure allows the fine, bristled texture of its coat and the rich tonal depths of the foliage to hold a velvety, tactile presence on paper that only traditional ink under pressure can deliver.
Printmaking Process: hand-printed intaglio etching
Ink/Paper Combination: Sepia ink printed on Hahnemühle copperplate paper.
